Bravo's Sure/Fire family of top-quality manual Surge-Protected Data Switches, incorporates all the features necessary to protect today's sophisticated electronic components from spikes and surges, that travel up and down connecting cables and into equipment ports. Cable spikes and surges originate from many sources, including electrostatic discharges, equipment generated spikes, lights, motors, generators, elevators and inductive switching loads.

It has been determined by Hewlett-Packard and many other sources that non-protected data switches account for a high percentage of laser printer and computer equipment failures. These failures are caused as sensitive electronic equipment components are subjected to the inductive load switching action (data switch inrush of voltages & current that reside on connected cables) of standard non-protected data switches.

As components deteriorate, your company is exposed to inevitable maintenance calls and even voided equipment warranties. Currently available surge protection devices that are placed at the AC wall outlet do not protect equipment against dataline surges and spikes that originate at an ordinary data switch or that traverse connecting cables.

Bravo's Sure/Fire Surge-Protected Data Switches safeguard your expensive equipment investment from all forms of "on the cable" DC spikes and surges, and help you avoid troublesome and costly maintenance calls.

100% Protected Data Switches.

All units are bidirectional.
Avalanche diode arrays protect all signal lines in less than a pico-second.
Attractive brushed aluminum and Apple platinum shielded enclosure and shielded connectors (Deluxe models are painted shielded enclosures).
Proper grounding of interface transients away from equipment circuitry. Transient resistant, sealed rotary switch rated at more than 50,000 operations (10,000 operations for Deluxe models).
Switches all 25 signal lines; 8 lines for Apple models.

Proprietary PCB design (Wire design for Deluxe models).

Both Premium Quality & more economical Deluxe Quality models are available.
Reduces possibility of costly business downtime and repairs.
It's no longer necessary to turn off your printer prior to changing the manual switch setting.
Automatically resets itself after removing damaging surges and spikes.
Simple "plug-in cables and go" installation.
Can be used in conjunction with automatic switches and line extender products.
Helps compensate for transients caused by using unshielded cable.

The Bravo Sure/Fire Series of SurgeProtected Data Switches solve a serious industry problem threatening all networked equipment. Now you can connect your HP laser printers and all other vendor networked peripherals with reliability and confidence. The Sure/Fire models incorporate all the features that HP requires in a protected manual switch and much more.

Connectors: All connectors are "D" subminiature 25-pin female connectors and are shielded. Apple models are 8-pin Mini-Din connectors.
Rotary Knob: A "sure grip" attractive aluminum knob with position pointer (plastic knob for Deluxe models).
Cabling Requirements: Cable requirements are defined by customer's specific application requirements. All possible 25 or 8 signal lines are switched as needed. Bravo recommends the use of shielded or double shielded cables.

Options:

  • Bravo parallel and serial line extenders;
  • Bravo CPS/1000 automatic switches;
  • Bravo cable product line with lengths from 1' to 100' (inquire at Bravo for more information).

Clamping Voltages: Premium Parallel Models will conduct any individual signal voltage transient greater than 8 volts to ground and away from connected equipment. Premium Serial Models and Deluxe Models will conduct any individual signal voltage transient greater than ±25 volts to ground.
Grounding: Premium Parallel Models will ground transients to pin 24 of the interface and to shield ground. Premium Serial Models will ground transients to pin 1 of the interface and to shield ground. Premium Apple Models and Deluxe Models ground to shield ground.
Signals Protected: All 25 or 8 signal lines are protected on all ports.

Due to the different voltage and grounding requirements of parallel and serial interfaces, do not intermix parallel and serial devices on Premium Sure/Fire switches.
