Bravo's High-Speed Parallel Line Extender (1042E) is uniquely a powerful signal-regeneration device for extending any IBM or Centronics parallel equipment for remote applications. Typical applications include remote placement of noisy printers from PC workstations in the office workplace and as a repeater building block for LAN printer server ports.

Because the extender is a self-contained transmitter and receiver unit, it can be conveniently located anywhere along a cable run path. This allows maximum distance results by inserting the unit just before the point of failure. Multiple parallel line extenders can be inserted along a cable run path as desired to increase overall distance capabilities.

Bravo's Parallel Line Extender is a cost-effective way not only to achieve long cable distances, but also to insure a high degree of signal reliability through its strategic placement between any two cables.

100% true parallel operation (does not require parallel to serial conversions to imitate parallel distance).
Allows parallel distances up to 3,000'.
Multiple units can be placed for even longer distances.
Self-Contained transmitter & receiver.
Compatible with IBM 25-pin and Centronics 36-pin parallel interfaces.
Fully shielded all metal construction utilizing the highest quality electronic components.
When used in conjunction with Bravo's CPS/1000 printer sharers, the extender does not require its own power transformer.
IEEE 1284 Bi-directional Parallel Compliancy.

The most cost-effective approach for remote intelligent parallel peripherals and applications.
Provides the advantages of parallel versus serial data transfer allowing faster printer output, at speeds up to 576 Kbps.
Transparent to PC user operations and software applications.
Simple "plug-in cables and go" installation.
Eliminates need for parallel to serial converters to achieve distance.
Is ideal for conveniently locating computers and printers in the office workplace.
Provides the network planner with a parallel node building block and repeater function.
Can be used in conjunction with manual and automatic parallel switches to achieve long cable distances.

The Bravo High-Speed Parallel Line Extender can be used to provide distance capability to any IBM or Centronics parallel interface, increasing equipment accessibility and office productivity. However, the extender can be made to extend any 5 volt parallel equipment port's signals as long as the source computer input signals are interfaced to pins 19, 14, & 16 18, and the printer feedback signals are interfaced to pins 10 13, & 15. Pins 1925 are grounds.

Connectors: The extender input connector is a "D" subminiature 25-pin male connector and the output connector is a "D" subminiature 25-pin female connector. A power input jack is for the power transformer.
The line extender normally requires the Bravo power transformer. But when used in conjunction with Bravo printer sharers (CPS/1000 models), the transformer is not necessary (except Model 1022) because the extender draws its power on pin 25 of the interface.

Cabling Requirements: DB25 male/female extension cables (25-conductor straight thru) for connecting IBM or compatible PCs to the input connector. Use standard IBM printer cables (Centronics 36-pin male/DB25 male) to connect your printer to the line extender output connector.

All cables must be single shielded; double shielded is recommended.

Options: Bravo's cable product line with lengths from 1' to 100'; Bravo parallel data switches; Bravo parallel port protectors; & rack mount extender solutions (inquire at Bravo for more information).
